If you have or love little kids or even big kids who sometimes miss the magic of being a little kid, you’ll love this episode about children’s picture books for the holidays. I’m joined by my friend (and friend of the show), Katie Kenny Phillips, to build a list of 12 Books of Christmas!

Katie is a writer and children’s book author of several adorable books and a mom of five kids who still love pulling books out of their Christmas book basket every year. And my kids know that while the level of difficulty or Pinterest-like detail may vary year to year, we are going to read a whole stack of holiday books every December, no matter what. So Katie and I are sharing with you a few of our family’s favorites, plus I tell you about a few books I’m looking forward to reading for the first time this year.

Of course, because this is The Couch, where side notes and rabbit trails are always welcome, we also discuss chocolate-covered fruit, hiding our treats from our kids, and British lady detective shows.

Before we start our list of Christmas picture books, a quick question: Have you been missing my reviews of this year’s new holiday movies? Are you dying to know what someone else thought about that Christmas movie on Netflix or the one on Lifetime or, obviously, Hallmark? You know I’m watching them and you know I’ve got opinions! And I’ve been chatting with friends about these movies over on Patreon, where you can find weekly episodes with reviews of the most recently released holiday movies. You also get a whole bunch of other fun perks when you join Patreon, so go to patreon.com/thecouch and consider joining. It’s basically a Christmas present for yourself, you know. And ‘tis the season for that!

All right, let’s start the show.
