One of my favorite movies of all time is Two Weeks Notice. Don’t judge me. I realize it’s not exactly award-winning cinema. But I like it.
And for some reason, I find myself quoting it, referring to it or, let’s be honest, watching it on cable on a fairly regular basis. Case in point: today.
The first time I saw the movie (starring Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, if you’ve somehow managed to miss this one), I was completely distracted during one of its most romantic scenes.
Toward the end of the movie, all the characters attend a gala, and Hugh Grant is blown away by how beautiful Sandra Bullock looks in her [hideous, but supposed to be pretty] dress. After much stuttering and stammering, he finally manages to say, “You look absolutely surprising.”
I almost missed the whole interchange, though, because I was focused on the music. I remember leaning over to Mark [who, poor guy, had been forced to watch yet another chick flick] and saying, “Hey! Is that Norah Jones singing? Oh, look! It’s Norah Jones! She’s at the piano! Oh, I like her! You know, she has that song on the radio? Norah Jones!”

Yeah. I like Norah Jones. I like her voice. I like that she plays the piano. And I like the jazzy old standards she typically sings.
So, when One2One Network offered me Norah’s latest CD to review, I didn’t have to think twice. Of course I said yes.
…Featuring includes 18 duets with legends such as Ray Charles, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and OutKast. Okay, so OutKast is not a legend. But he does sing a song with Norah Jones. According to Norah’s website, the tracks on this CD have been recorded throughout her entire career, starting in 2001. She also says (on the website):
“It’s so exciting and flattering and fun when I get asked to sing with somebody that I admire. It takes you a little bit out of your comfort zone when you’re doing something with another artist. You don’t know what to expect—it’s kind of like being a little kid and having a playdate.”
The whole CD has a mellow vibe, and while I didn’t love all the songs, I really enjoyed her duet with Dolly Parton as well as her song with Sasha Dobson. I’d never heard of Dobson before; that’s what’s great about a project like this one. It introduces you to a wide variety of artists – all the while featuring one of your favorites!

I love listening to Norah as well – but I’m also listening to Aaron Shust, Scripture lullabies from Breakaway music, Chris Tomlin and James Taylor – and of course Sara Groves and Lincoln Brewster. :)
Love Nora Jones! Just went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra last weekend and that always means Christmas music season has started for me! :)

I’m a country girl myself, but my kids have started listening to Top-40 stuff and I find that there is quite a bit there that I like. And after watching The Princess and the Frog, I find that I like Jazz too.
Oh, I LOVE Norah Jones! Right now I am working on perfecting my Christmas playlist for my iPod, so there is lots of Brian Setzer, Michael Buble, and classic 50’s and 60’s Christmas music (Elvis, etc). This is a great giveaway!
I love Mat Kearney’s music… and have recently been listening to a bit of Norah’s older stuff (again) in the evenings… and have been listening to “Classical Holiday” on the T.V. while spending time with my baby girl (…don’t watch t.v. with her up and at ’em)! I really like Jack Johnson. I’d seen this album on tv or somewhere recently and have contemplated buying it.
I don’t really follow anyone and/or buy music, so I tend to just listen in to my daughter’s playlists….jazz mostly. So, I would have to say that I’ve been enjoying the Bill Evans Trio lately.
I do like Nora Jones though, and will look forward to hearing her new CD.
John Mark McMillan is on my frequent play list these days. He has a unique sound and doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff. Since my life is hard right now, it resonates.

I don’t know that I have anything new on my playlist. The Glee soundtracks get more play than anything on my players right now.

I love Norah Jones. I have been all about Taylor Swift lately. She’s taking me back to the torment of my teen years and my husband thinks I’m pathetic always singing along. lol
I currently listen to a mixture of everything these days.
We love that show! (and when I say we, I really mean it) and I love Norah Jones. I’m enjoying holiday music these days. I grew up in South America and, since we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving there, I find myself wishing for some holiday music a little earlier than most people.
I like Norah Jones as well. and I loved that movie. I thought it was fun.

Lately, I’m stuck on the Glee soundtracks. And yes, I’m admitting it! Not a fan of all the songs/versions, but mostly I love the CDs.
I also love Norah Jones, although I wasn’t a huge fan of her last album, to tell you the truth. I have high hopes for this duets album.
