I’m a master procrastinator. I work best under pressure, at the last minute, smashed up against a deadline.
(Except when I don’t. But let’s not talk about those times when I run out of time, show up late and empty-handed, or don’t get the bathroom cleaned before company knocks on the door.)
ANYWAY.
My favorite way to procrastinate (you know, aside from reading or watching TV or taking a nap) is by doing something far less crucial instead of the thing I’m supposed to be doing. So nearly a year ago when I was supposed to be finishing my book’s manuscript and I hit a wall or felt anxious or simply couldn’t get motivated, I began planning my book launch party.
Because it needed to be done (A YEAR IN ADVANCE, Mary? REALLY?) and even though it’s “work,” it’s fun for me.
So that’s why I spent a lot of time over the weekend creating graphics to promote the book (fun work) instead of writing guest posts (hard, though still fun…ish, work). And it’s why I created some Choose Joy Christmas coloring pages for you instead of cleaning off my dining room table or folding the laundry that’s threatening a hostile takeover of significant square footage of my house.
I didn’t create them because I’m an artist. AS YOU CAN SEE. But I made them because it was fun for me and I thought maybe you need something fun to procrastinate with this week, too. So if you’re tired of wrapping gifts or making cookies or dusting shelves or comparing spreadsheets or balancing books or WHATEVER IT IS you have to get done this week, here’s a tiny little gift from me to you.

Merry Christmas to you Mary!
God Bless
Oh my….YES I procrastinate, YES I like to color and NO the presents aren’t wrapped!!!! Thank you Mary!
YES! But I also have avoidance issues (vs lazy my therapist once explained to me) and those I have to pay attention to. I have found that those coloring pages are a great way to deal with stress too! So, if you color a page it could make it easier for you to do that stuff you have been putting off. =)
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Cute color pages! I created an ornament art piece this December as well in my art videos for Createful Christmas. I noticed our ideas are similar but I painted my background a solid color and went a little crazy making swirls. I like how cute yours turned out and the tree ornament. Thanks for being so creative. I hope you have a great year!
