Last week a friend vaguely implied that I’ve been a little consumed with this book business. I’m pretty sure her point was that, as much as she loves hearing about my book, she looks forward to the day when I can talk about ANYTHING ELSE UNDER THE SUN.
Fair enough. And don’t be mad at my friend. She wasn’t mean – or wrong! No matter what my career has been, I have always had the tendency to go all in – or to become obsessed, depending on who you ask. (Sandra Bullock says in a movie, “I AM THE JOB!” and I think about that all the time. The trouble is I can’t remember if it’s in Miss Congeniality or Two Weeks’ Notice – both movies I’ve seen literally dozens of times!)
Anyway. So I’ve been a little bit focused on Choose Joy. It’s been fun and it’s been hard, and I just know that if people learn about the book and get to know Sara and her message of hope, it’s only just beginning. Which is awesome. But…sometimes a girl needs a break.
So over the past couple of months, when I’ve needed a break from All Things Book, I’ve worked on the details for my book launch party. I know, I know, it’s still related – but it’s fun! It’s planning a party! I love planning parties!
[Side note: Yes, it’s possible that I love planning parties so much and have been so excited to plan a book party (books! party! MY FAVORITES together at last!) that I actually began brainstorming ideas a full year ago. It’s possible. Insane. And possible.]
Anyway. (Good grief, what happened to that laser-focused person I’ve supposedly been lately? OH RIGHT, she’s distracted and frazzled and a little, tiny bit crazy. Right.)
The point? Is there a point here? YES. Here it is:
You, my dear readers and friends, are the reason I have helped write a book. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t write. Period. End of discussion.
Except it’s not the end of the discussion! Why did I say that?!
Because the whole reason I am writing this post today is to invite you to my book launch party.
YOU ARE INVITED to celebrate the release of CHOOSE JOY at a launch party and book signing this Friday, January 15, from 7 to 9 pm. If you live in the Kansas City area and would like to join me for some food and drinks, music and fun, I would love to see you at the party.
Now, I’m apparently unfamiliar with the ways of the Facebook, and when I created my party invite there, I made it private. So if we’re not Facebook friends, you won’t be able to see it. BLERGH! That does not mean I don’t want you to come. I DO! And this is your invitation!
Come have a cupcake and a drink, bring a friend and pose at the photo booth, and get your copy of Choose Joy signed by me! (The book will be available for purchase at the event.)

I am so very excited about this book. I just received it in the mail today!! I think it will be one of those books that I do not put down but also do not want it to end! I always read Sara’s blog. I often didn’t leave comments because …. our internet speed back then was way slllllllloooooooowwwww! She so inspired and encouraged me like she has so many! I will not be able to make the book party as I am in south georgia. I love your blog. Plan to book mark it. I blogged about Choose JOY a few days ago. So excited! I already said that …. lots of HUGS.
