Today Netflix released the first real trailer for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Just a month out from the release, and we’re just now getting an actual glimpse of the four 90-minute series we’ve all been waiting for. OBVIOUSLY there was much jubilation and celebration and happy-tears-bursting on the internet. [Here it is, if you missed it.]
After I finished watching the trailer (fine. twice.), I realized this timing was perfect. For once, procrastinating worked in my favor, because getting the first real trailer makes this the perfect time to tell you what I’ve been working on lately: a Gilmore Girls-inspired devotional.
I KNOW. You’re so…actually, I don’t know how you’re feeling about this announcement. I’ve been putting off telling you because I’m so (SOOOOO) excited about this project, but so (SOOOOO) nervous to hear what you think! Is it everything you never knew you wanted? Or is it the most ridiculous idea you’ve ever heard?
Either way, I’m relieved to finally let the cat out of the bag.
Next week, as we start our November countdown to the big day, you’ll be able to get your hands on Fast Talk & Faith: a 22-day Devotional Inspired by Gilmore Girls. (Well, virtually. It will be an ebook.) I can’t wait to share it with you! My friend Lisa-Jo Baker has been my biggest cheerleader for this project, and here’s part of what she wrote for the book’s foreword:
“Movies and TV shows have always been my filter for unpacking my faith from the inside out. I believe in stories and I believe in Jesus, who was surely the greatest storyteller of all time to have everyone hanging on His every word. And so I am utterly, reverently smitten with Mary’s gift to us – unpacking the stories of Stars Hollow in the context of the faith that defines us as part of the Great Story of Jesus. If you need me, I’ll just be over here on the sofa with my remote and Mary’s devo, feeling all the feelings over a cup of coffee.”
Well, really. Between that and today’s trailer release, I am feeling all the feelings, too! All the things are working for me today: that trailer for the new Gilmore Girls, the fact that my procrastination had kept me from telling you before today, the book’s gorgeous cover (I’m giving you a sneak peek of it up top!!), ALL OF IT. I have some fun things planned for next week’s launch (and, you know, a ton of work to finish between now and then), and I can’t wait to share them with you.
Until then, a Gilmore Girls devotional announcement is working for me!
If this is your first time linking up with WFMW here, PLEASE read the guidelines I shared in this post. Highlights include linking your specific post, not the front page of your blog, and making sure to include a link back to this site in your WFMW. Thank you!!
Oh. My. Goodness. I am SO excited about your devotional. Seriously, in-between all the tears from watching the GG trailer over and over tonight, I am already hoping that you need a few bloggy friends to review your book and share the heck out of it – although I already know I’ll be sharing the heck out of it, regardless! I’m so excited about this, Mary!
This…is….AWESOME! Can’t wait.
Congrats, Mary! Sounds like a creative way to pull us into the world of Gilmore Girls while being inspired by God’s word as well. I love the concept! Can’t wait for it to launch! Thanks for the linkup, my friend!
Mary, this is so YOU! Truly, I have a want to love/can’t totally embrace relationship with the Gilmore Girls. There are some things I love about their mother-daughter relationship and even the way Lorelai has pushed past so much, forgiven so much, to maintain a relationship with Emily. Then there’s good ‘ol faithful Luke. Three cheers to you today for coming up with this!
So exciting! I can’t wait!!
um….. YAAAAAAY!!!!
Oh my goodness, I cannot wait for this ebook, Mary! I ADORE Gilmore Girls. So excited for this.
