Tis the season, friends! Though we haven’t even had a chance to put Halloween behind us (or put leftover candy in our special candy hiding spot), the holiday movie season is upon us. Getting a jump on everyone, the Hallmark Channel aired its first new movie of the year the last Saturday of October, thus kicking off a marathon of movies spanning more than two months.

By the time the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, more than 50 brand-new holiday movies will have aired on the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Lifetime. That’s a lot of holiday cheer! A lot of snowball fights and small town festivals, and a whole lot of baking contests and ridiculous misunderstandings and mistletoe kisses.

And I am here for ALL OF IT.

As I’ve mentioned before, I believe in the power of “comfort food” television in general and the reliability of holiday movies in particular. And in a world where it seems we’re in a race to top “could it get any worse” every day of the week, I think we might need a few dozen cheesy, predictable, LOVELY holiday movies more than ever this year.
