The Couch Podcast #96: Reba McEntire’s Christmas in Tune with Laura Tremaine

The Couch Podcast #96: Reba McEntire’s Christmas in Tune with Laura Tremaine

Laura Tremaine joins me this week to share her experience watching her very first Lifetime holiday movie, and it’s both exactly what we expected and a whole lot of fun! Laura is the author of Share Your Stuff, I’ll Go First, the creator of the #onedayHH Instagram campaign, and the host of the 10 Things to Tell You podcast. She’s also a complete newcomer to the world of holiday movies. Though she’s married to an actual movie director, Laura admitted to me last fall (when I was a guest on her podcast) that she’s never watched a made-for-TV holiday movie. So this year, I asked if she’d be willing to give one a try—and she said yes! In the language of TikTok and good students everywhere, Laura understood this assignment.

The Couch Podcast #95: A Castle for Christmas & An Unexpected Christmas with Meg Tietz of Sorta Awesome

Can I convince a holiday movie skeptic to give holiday movies a try? (Spoiler alert: I can!) Meg Tietz is the host of the Sorta Awesome Show and the creator of the Sorta Awesome Hangout Community, and I adore her and both of those things so much! Last December I was on an episode of Sorta Awesome with Meg, in an attempt to convince her to try watching holiday movies. I have finally succeeded, and she’s here today to talk about the movie she watched and one I watched as well.

The Couch Podcast #94: The Best Christmas (& Hanukkah) TV Episodes with Kathi Lipp

Is anything better than watching our favorite characters in our favorite shows engage in holiday hijinks? Or learning something brand-new about those characters when they go home for the holidays or attempt to roast a turkey or win the ugly sweater contest? I don’t know for sure, but I do know that I love a good holiday episode of my fave TV shows. And that’s why my friend and friend of the show, Kathi Lipp, is here to help me make a list of the best (or, at least, our favorite) holiday TV episodes.

The Couch Podcast #93: My Christmas Family Tree & One December Night with Kristen Strong

What do we do when our holiday movies are wholly holey (but—don’t get confused—not holy)? This week my friend Kristen Strong is here to chat with me about a couple of new original holiday movies, including one that requires so much suspension of disbelief that we just don’t even know how to rate it!

The Couch Podcast #89 – Gearing Up for Holiday Movie Season with Brandon Gray of Deck the Hallmark Podcast

Holiday movie season is almost here, so let’s talk made-for-TV holiday movies! What do Lifetime movie fans think when the station switches from killer cheerleaders to stars from the 90s having snowball fights? What’s the best way to watch a holiday movie—while doing laundry or while taking notes because this is serious business? And when, for the love, will Hallmark release their full holiday movie schedule?! One of my favorite podcasters and now, friend of the show, Brandon Gray is here to address all these questions and more.

The 15 Books That Have Changed My Life (So Far)

Can a book change your life? This is a question I asked in episode 88 of The Couch Podcast. In a conversation with my friend Shannan Martin, we decided that we think yes, books can change our lives. But sometimes they change our lives for a season and sometimes they change them forever. Sometimes they change our hearts but it takes a few more steps or resources or years before our lives are tangibly changed. Here’s a longer list of books that have changed my life (so far).

The Couch Podcast #86 – Writing, the Importance of Fiction, and Female Detectives (with Patricia Raybon)

The Couch Podcast #86 – Writing, the Importance of Fiction, and Female Detectives (with Patricia Raybon)

Why do we love mysteries so much? Why is fiction so important? And who are our favorite female detectives? Today I’m talking all of that and more with my friend, Patricia Raybon. Patricia is an award-winning Colorado author who writes about faith, race, and grace, and she’s also on the (in)courage writing team with me. And, as you’ll see in this episode, she’s a Jesus writer by day but a mystery writer by night!
